President & Founder - Holist Diane Rothman, Senior Clergy, CHTP/I, HSC
Diane grew up in a rural area and spent most of her childhood outdoors connected to the Earth and all its creatures. Around the age of 13 she developed an interest in the occult as a means to develop her manifestational/intuitive powers and to create the outcomes in her life that she desired. Despite their strong Catholic upbringing, she was supported by her grandmother who taught her tea leaf reading and her mother who bought her Tarot cards. She began studying Tarot, astrology, numerology, magic, and conducted séances. After having considerable success in these practices, and in light of heavy religious conditioning, she became fearful of her own power and packed up her books and tarot cards for 30 years to attend college and follow a professional career in advertising.
In 2007 she began experiencing a considerable amount of personal and professional stress. She looked to her
Catholic practices to find relief but found it no longer served her needs. A friend suggested she try Healing Touch as a way to bring calm back into her life. During her first treatment she was reconnected to the power she felt as a young girl and remembered that she could create the life she desired. This gave her the confidence to move away from the stressful, chaotic life she was living. She unpacked her books and tarot cards and began studying the teachings of the Tao, Eckhardt Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Louise Hay, and Abraham Hicks.
In January, 2009, she left her professional career and returned full time to her love of exploring energy healing, metaphysics and intuition that shifted her religious beliefs to a spiritual practice which she found to be supportive and empowering. In May of that same year she opened The Sacred Sage Spiritual Emporium offering spiritual and metaphysical tools and supplies to those seeking alternative spiritual practices. Her spiritual/metaphysical studies expanded to include trance channeling, automatic writing, hypnotherapy and becoming a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner.
Running The Sacred Sage for six years Diane met many customers who like her were searching for a new way to find peace and empowerment to enhance their traditional belief systems or to replace them. Recognizing the need in herself and others for alternative spiritual practices Diane was inspired to create The Church of the Human Spirit.

Director of Events And Meditation - Denise Calhoun
Denise was raised Catholic and as a teenager joined an Evangelical Christian youth group. She was involved in the planning of activities and led the group in singing with her guitar. After high school she decided to take her involvement further by serving as a short term missionary assistant in Mexico with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Denise enjoyed the community aspect of her church but still struggled with wholeness.
The distraction of work, marriage and raising two children, one of which has a developmental disability allowed Denise to enjoy her life. As the family’s needs decreased her feelings of emptiness emerged again. Involvement in self help groups provided support and she enjoyed service work.
It was not until she began a meditation practice that she was able to grow emotionally and spiritually. Through energy healing and intuitive guidance Denise discovered within herself the missing pieces that she has been looking for. Denise sees in The Church of the Human Spirit an opportunity to create a community of support and healing.
Denise leads our weekly meditation circle offering a variety of meditation techniques such as Buddhist meditations, crystal gazing, chakra meditations and much more.
